In order to encourage people to interact with one another more often, WastelandRP has a custom XP Cap system. Your character cannot master every skill, so you will need to work with others to accomplish some tasks. Not every skill has a cap, though generally speaking, crafting skills usually do. This guide will help you understand the basics of the system, as well as what skills are influenced by it.
Level cap formula: 4 + (2 * Trait Bonus)
The following list of skills are all capped and follow special rules:
Any skill that has a cap can be raised to level 4 no matter what. Beyond that level, the perks you chose at character creation determine that skill’s cap. Every +1 bonus you have to a skill grants 2 additional levels to the cap. For example, if you started with +2 metalworking, your cap would be 8 instead of the base of 4.
| Perk Bonus | XP Gain (%) | Level Cap | Starting Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| +0 | 25% | 4 | 0 |
| +1 | 100% | 6 | 3 |
| +2 | 133% | 8 | 5 |
| +3 | 166% | 10 | 7 |
Most non-combat skills are granted one plus double the starting levels of your total perk bonus. Using the previous example of +3 metalworking, you will start with level 7 metalworking after creating your character. The following skills all follow this rule, granting double the perk bonus to your starting level:
By default, XP gain is set to 75%. Select skills are set to 100%. Below is a list of those with increased gain:
